You Took For Granted

You took for granted things you didn't know
Life was so fast You were always on the go
The one day a knock came on your door
The knock you would dread forever more
Dear sir/madam I'm sorry to say
Your son/daughter has passed way
Suddenly you were lost without a clue
You were in shock No it's not true
The words that were spoken knocked you off you feet
Your heart has been broken and you begin to weep
With you head bowed down you don't hear a sound
You feel like there is nothing left and no one's around
Your life feels empty you find it hard live
Why did he/she die they had so much to give
The questions abound some are not easy
Your mind is blank your stomach is queasy
What you took for granted you lost it that day
Now all you can do is kneel down and pray
You pray to the lord God up above
And ask him to accept the one you did love
For his/her time on earth did come to an end
He/she met with the angel that god did send
