I Sign Your Name

Since you have left life is not the same
With tears in my eyes I sign next to yours
I receive your urn that was behind closed doors
Now you are free and I now feel so alone
I place you next to me as I take you home
My heart is numb my hands tremble and shake
My emotions are drained how much can I take
I think about all the good times we had
My eyes light up because I am glad
Now I must take you out once more
To the Church down the street next to the store
I place your urn on the Altar and pray
May you be with God this very day
We honor you with music but you never heard
All the good things we said and all the kind words
Your friends and family dressed up so nice
Came to remember the good things in your life
The service is over you would be proud
How we spoke of you and sang out loud
Now the hardest thing that I must do
Is to thank everyone as they pass through
We hug each other and begin to cry
As they all came to say to you goodbye
I shake their hands and thank them once more
As the leave the Church and go out the door
My hearts on fire as I think about you
How your life on earth is through
As I take you back home to stay
You will be with me every day
I will be glad that you are now home
You will never be alone
Each new day I will get up and see
Just how much you meant to me
With pen in hand I sign my name
In your book of Memories just isnt the same
My heart still breaks and I still tend to cry
It is just to hard to say goodbye
So tonight when I lay my head on the bed
The memories of you will dance in my head
And as I will pray to our God up above
That he will welcome you with all his love
The one day my time will draw near
I will see my son begin to appear
Then I will know its time for me to go
I will follow the light this you know
The last thing I will see is a smile on your face
As you welcome me to Gods Holy place
