Father's day is approaching fast
I don't remember father's day last
It only comes once a year
Now I dread the day so near
The day I was to celebrate
Is one I cannot appreciate
A special day set aside for me
Has lost it meaning I feel empty
I'm not proud to feel this way
My heart will ache on my special day
Someone I loved will not be here
The loss to me is just not clear
I try to sort right from wrong
Something is missing that does belong
Nothing I can do will change the fact
Nothing I can do will bring him back
I must go on and live my life
Be strong for my children and my wife
So on father's day I must smile
Even if only for a little while
But deep inside my heart will be
A empty hole that you can't see
So to father's like me out there
This is what we have left to share
I wish I had better words to say
Nothing will ever take the loss away
